Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Caro ("Caro," "we," "us," or "our") governing your use of the Caro app and related services (the "Service"). By downloading, accessing, or using Caro, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

1. The Service

Caro lets you save recipe videos from third-party platforms and turns them into structured, step-by-step recipes that you can organize, scale, convert between measurement systems, and cook from. We may add, change, or remove features over time.

2. Your account

You need an account to use Caro, created through Sign in with Apple or Google. You're responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that happens under it. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to use the Service.

3. Subscriptions & free trial

Caro offers an auto-renewing subscription, which may begin with a free trial. The following applies to purchases made through the Apple App Store:

• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase, or at the end of any free trial period.
• Your subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the rate shown at purchase.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription, and turn off auto-renew, in your Apple App Store account settings after purchase.
• If offered, any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

Prices are shown in the app and may vary by region. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable; refund requests for App Store purchases are handled by Apple.

4. Your content

You retain ownership of the content you create in Caro, including your notes, ratings, cookbooks, and photos ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, store, process, and display Your Content solely to operate and provide the Service to you. You're responsible for Your Content and confirm you have the rights to it.

5. Third-party content

Recipe videos and the platforms they come from (such as Instagram and TikTok) belong to their respective owners and are subject to their own terms. Caro processes the publicly available content of links you choose to provide, in order to generate recipes for your personal use. You are responsible for ensuring your use of third-party content complies with those platforms' terms and applicable law. Caro is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Instagram, TikTok, Apple, or Google.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
• Attempt to reverse engineer, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to the Service.
• Upload content that is illegal, infringing, or violates others' rights.
• Misuse or overload the Service, or interfere with other users.

7. Intellectual property

The Caro app, its design, branding, mascot, and software are owned by Caro and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms don't grant you any right to our trademarks or branding.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. Recipes generated from videos may contain inaccuracies; always use your own judgment, especially regarding ingredients, allergens, and food safety. We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that generated recipes are complete or accurate.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Caro and its providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

10. Termination

You may stop using Caro and delete your account at any time from the app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

11. Apple App Store terms

Caro is distributed through the Apple App Store. Your license to use the app is also subject to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA). Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, and is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms with the right to enforce them against you.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Taiwan (Republic of China), without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be submitted to the Taiwan Taipei District Court as the court of first instance, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
